1. What is the Elide Fire® ball?

The Elide Fire® ball is a spherical fire extinguishing device, designed to respond to fire outbreaks with no need for direct human intervention. It comes in several models suited to residential, professional or industrial use.

Its operating principle is simple: on direct contact with a flame — with no button to press and no pin to pull — the ball activates automatically within 3 to 10 seconds and disperses its extinguishing agent over an area of up to 8 to 10 m², equivalent to a 2.5 kg extinguisher.

2. How does it actually work?

The Elide Fire® ball can be used in two complementary ways:

🎯 Active mode

The user throws or rolls the ball towards the source of the fire, from a safe distance. No training is required: activation is automatic as soon as it comes into contact with the flames. Even a child or an untrained person can use it.

🛡️ Passive mode (sentinel)

The ball is installed on its metal bracket in an at-risk area (electrical cabinet, kitchen, storage room, vehicle). In the event of a fire outbreak, it activates on its own, 24 hours a day, even when no one is on site.

The detonation produced on activation also plays an alert role: the sound emitted (~120 dB) is comparable to the sound level of an industrial fire alarm, immediately warning people nearby.

📍 Installation recommendation

The ball should preferably be fixed 10–30 cm below the ceiling, at least 1.30 m from the potential source of fire, with the yellow arrow pointing upwards. For electrical risks, allow a minimum distance of 15 to 20 cm above the equipment.

3. Its real advantages

Here is what field experience and technical data confirm:

• Total accessibility: no prior training required, unlike the conventional extinguisher, which 90% of the public do not know how to use.
• Permanent protection: the only device capable of responding automatically outside occupied hours, precisely when fires are often at their most devastating.
• Non-toxic, biodegradable agent: mono-ammonium phosphate is used as an agricultural fertiliser. It poses no risk to people or the environment.
• Zero maintenance: unlike extinguishers, which require a mandatory annual inspection, the ball works for 5 years with no maintenance whatsoever.
• Unrestricted transport: the product is not classified as dangerous for transport (road, air, sea, rail).
• Installation versatility: it adapts to a wide range of environments — electrical cabinets, boat engine rooms, vehicles, kitchens, main low-voltage switchboard (TGBT) rooms, warehouses.

4. In which contexts is it recommended in Senegal?

Based on the field conditions encountered during our audits and interventions, here are the use cases where the Elide Fire® ball brings real added value in the Senegalese context:

• Electrical cabinets and main low-voltage switchboards (TGBT): high-risk areas that are often unmonitored and hard to access, where automatic passive protection is particularly valuable.
• Storage rooms and industrial warehouses: spaces left unoccupied outside working hours, where a fire breaking out at night can turn into a disaster before anyone can respond.
• Vehicles and construction machinery: engine-compartment fires are common. The ball can be fixed there for autonomous protection.
• Small restaurants, canteens, street kitchens: difficult access to suitable extinguishers and the frequent absence of trained staff justify this additional layer of protection.
• Residential housing and low-income housing estates: where extinguishers are rarely present, and even more rarely used correctly.
• Server rooms and sensitive IT facilities: as a complement to a gas extinguishing system, the ball offers a first line of protection.
