The Elide Fire ball is an automatic extinguishing device using an aerosol generator that complies with the European standard BS EN 16263. It is designed to detect and extinguish a fire outbreak without human intervention, bursting on contact with the flames. This mechanism releases an extinguishing powder effective on Class A, B, C, E and K fires.

Fixed installation

Installation in electrical cabinets:

• Switch off the power supply before carrying out any work.
• Install the ELIDE FIRE® ball at a height of 15 to 30 cm above the high-risk components, directly inside the enclosure.
• If internal installation is not possible (control panels, enclosed electrical cabinets), fix the ball at a minimum distance of 30 cm above the enclosure to ensure effective coverage.

Installation in storage areas and warehouses:

• Suspend the ELIDE FIRE® ball at a height of 60 to 80 cm above the areas identified as critical (storage areas for flammable materials, machinery, racking, etc.).
• Make sure to optimise the position according to the dimensions of the room, in order to maximise the coverage area.

Choosing the right model for optimal protection:

• Select the model and number of Elide Fire® balls according to the site's characteristics (area, volume, risk level).
• For large areas or complex environments, several units can be combined for enhanced protection.

For active use

• Position the ball somewhere easily accessible so it can be used quickly in an emergency.
• The Elide Fire ball can also be used actively: simply throw it or roll it towards the fire. It activates as soon as it comes into contact with the flames, requiring no prior training or specific technical action.
• It is an ideal solution for untrained people or for emergency situations where panic makes conventional extinguishers difficult to use.

Frequently asked questions

Does the ball require maintenance? No, the ELIDE FIRE® ball requires no maintenance throughout its service life, which is generally 5 to 6 years. It is designed to remain permanently operational, with no recharging, regular inspection or technical maintenance required. Unlike conventional extinguishers, there is no need to handle or inspect it frequently — you simply need to make sure it stays correctly positioned in a suitable, unobstructed location. In short: no maintenance required, no recharging, works 24/7.

Does it damage electrical equipment? No. It is non-corrosive and does not damage control panels, computers, electrical cabinets or any other electronic equipment.

What types of fire is the ball effective against? The ELIDE FIRE® ball is designed to extinguish the following types of fire:

• Class A: solid materials (wood, paper, textiles…)
• Class B: flammable liquids (petrol, oils…)
• Class C & E: electrical equipment and short circuits
• Class K: cooking-oil and fat fires

What is the service life of an ELIDE FIRE® ball? The service life is 6 years from the date of manufacture, provided it is stored and installed in a suitable environment (temperatures from -40°C to +85°C).
